Being a part of a community sometimes means you lift other people up and help to share their stories knowing that there are other people who could benefit from the visibility of a story that might be like theirs.
If you are the parent of a queer adult child and want to better understand what they go through, I would encourage you to check the book out.
Listening to Sean's memoir brought me back to my UNH days and the people there, it reminds me of my own queerness, and it pained me to know Sean got to a dark place (brief mention in the story for those who might have experienced not wanting to be here anymore) and yet I love that he found ways to connect with himself and his #husband, his #twins, and #life.
I am proud of ALL of Sean, the good and the bad, because parts of me can connect to his story and I feel others will connect to it, too!
I had the opportunity to briefly meet Sean back at our UNH days as we both danced and were a part of the Dance Company there at the university. I was and still am a bit of an introvert so although I cannot say I know Sean very well, I like to think I know him a lot better after listening to his memoir #NotLikeOtherDads.

As a #queer person, I think there are a lot of things that we can connect to as a community and I also think other people who are not queer can also connect with feeling othered, minimized, called the black/rainbow sheep, being called defiant or unruly, seen as 2nd class or less than, and having your worth taken from you when no one has the right to do so and yet they do it anyway.
If you are a part of the #LGBTQ+ community, I encourage you to check the book out.
if you are a #QueerParent, if you are queer and considering being a parent or stopped considering because you got the messages, I encourage you to check the book out.
